Tom Mix - Straight Shooter

The Real Tom Mix

Tom Mix was a Hollywood hero, whose tales and stories far out weighed the real person. Ralston Purina was looking for a show to sponsor and found that the Tom Mix Straight Shooter Show was exactly what they needed to fill the bill. Before radio Tom Mix had become legendary in the rodeo and roping circles, winning the 1909 National championship. Tom Mix and Jack Armstrong were radio rivals in the juvenile adventure series, both spanning over 15 seasons on the radio. The real Tom Mix was never used for the radio show.
