Harold Peary as Throckmorton Gildersleeve, portrays a man in his 40's in a small mythical town called Summerfield USA! He would be well known for his "windbag ways, a most eligible bachelor and a bumbling ladies man". This cast of characters would include, Walter Tetley as Leroy Forrester the wise cracking nephew. Gale Gordon as the rich neighbor Rumson Bullard. Jim Backus also portrayed this character in 1952. This was probably one of the first radio "spin offs". You might remember Harold Peary in The Fibber McGee and Molly Show.
